Oftentimes we push our emotions aside or compartmentalize them so that we don’t have to deal with them. However, this leaves them festering inside us, whether it is conscious or unconscious. Our emotions are not going to magically disappear. You may be thinking, “how unfortunate,” however our emotions are necessary informants. While some of the emotions we experience are painful, ultimately, they are the catalysts for our own healing.
What would it be like to offer yourself space and compassion to move through these emotions with understanding and connection? How would processing them free up some of the internal clutter we feel when we don’t give ourselves that time to heal?
This takes time. We cannot just spend a few minutes and hope that we are healed. Schedule time to sit down with yourself and the emotion at hand. Sitting with it and allowing it to move through you can help you to heal. It starts with acknowledging the presence of an emotion and allowing it to be present.
