Today, we are facing a completely new territory, a global situation never experienced before. Many of us are concerned about a variety of different things; our jobs and finances, the future, and at the top of most of our minds is our health. There are so many things to think about, right?
However, as we move forward, there is another opportunity lurking beneath this pandemic: the opportunity to live in this moment with a focus on what we do have, what we can be grateful for, and what is good in this moment. We cannot change what is, but while doing our part and listening closely to what we are being told to do (and doing it), we can choose to focus our minds elsewhere.
Here is what we can focus on:
● We do not have to rush anywhere, as most of us are working from home
● We do not have a fixed schedule to keep our children on
● We have an opportunity to bond and connect with loved ones, both in-person and virtually, like never before
● We have control over our thoughts (it takes work, but we can do it)
● We can go out into nature and enjoy the fresh air
● We have the gift each day to be able to open our eyes in the morning and rise out of bed
● We have access to good food, and the ability to cook delicious, nutritious meals in our free time
● We are even more thankful for our health, and the ability to breathe, walk, sleep, eat, and form connections
● We can appreciate a smile from a neighbor more
● Most importantly, we can appreciate the work that the men and women on the front lines are doing for us
Feeding your mind with the right thoughts – this is where we find our true power. It all begins with the words, language and self-talk in which we engage.
